Practical Grades emphasize general musical knowledge and skills. They are assessed in person.
Exams are available for instrumentalists and singers in classical, musical theatre, and jazz styles, ranging from beginner to Diploma level. An instrumental and vocal Practical Grade is divided into four sections:
Three songs or pieces, scales and arpeggios / unaccompanied song for voicessight-reading and aural.
The total mark for Practical Grades is 150. You must accomplish the following:
100 to pass
120 to pass with merit
130 to pass with distinction
