A course designed for all, based on the Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM) Graded Exam syllabus. Graded Music Theory course gives opportunity to acquire the fundamental musical elements such as intervals, keys, scales and chords. It also gives the knowledge of notation including the sign and skills in constructing balanced rhythmic patterns, and completing given melodic or harmonic structure.




Exams are available at eight different levels, from 1 to 8.

Music Theory Grades measure a candidate's grasp and knowledge of how music works. Increasing this knowledge and understanding can help musicians of all levels play with more sensitivity, awareness, and control.

The curriculum includes the fundamental building elements of music. This begins with the fundamentals of rhythm and notes in Grades 1–5, then progresses to harmony and counterpoint, composition, and a wide understanding of western music in Grades 6–8.

Before pursuing a Practical or Performance Grade 6, 7, or 8, candidates must have a Music Theory Grade 5 or above. This is to ensure that students comprehend the components of music, which will prepare them for success in these higher grades.
